Abstract:
The main purpose of the dissertation is to evaluate hydrocarbon potential using well log data of Shahdadpur area, Lower Indus Basin, Pakistan. The targeted formations were of Cretaceous age including the Pab Sandstone and Parh Limestone. Petrophysical analysis was carried out on the target formations and different petrophysical parameters have been calculated. Four different zones have been marked on the basis of the log curve behavior. Crossover of the neutron and density log have been identified which marks the hydrocarbon profile. One zone has been marked in the Pab Sandstone which gives good effective porosity and hydrocarbon saturation. Three zones have been marked in the Parh Limestone with all three have hydrocarbon saturation which is less than 15 % and having less effective porosity.
