Abstract:
The subject research study encompasses the concept of job stress in the perspective of
employee performance in a public sector organization. The main purpose of the inquiry is
to examine the impact of job stress on employee performance of Pakistan Kidney & Liver
Institute (PKLI) employees.
A quantitative approach has been adopted to measure the impact of job stress on
employees’ performance. Employees’ performance is the dependant variable and the
work stress generators like Time pressure, Work load, Role ambiguity and Lack of
motivation have been used as Independent variables. A sample of 95 employees has been
collected through convenience sampling technique. For analysis correlation and
regression have been used to find the association of job stress on employees’
performance. The findings indicate that time pressure and role ambiguity increase work
stress in employees thereby affects the employees’ performance. However, lack of
motivation and work load have no effect on the employees performance. The study will
be helpful for PKLI management to understand the causes of work stress among
employees and strategies could be developed to mitigate the work stress
