Abstract:
PDxtop is a WebTop (a web based desktop like environment), which have its own GUI (quite similar
to the Windows, Mac, or Linux). The idea behind PDxtop is that the all system works through a Web
Browser. Through that Web Browser all the PDxtop Applications and functionality can be accessed
by the client, no matter what hardware is used. It’s a platform designed to hold a wide variety of
Web Applications. PDxtop was thought of as a system, where everything inside it can be accessed
from anywhere at any time. All you need to do is login to your PDxtop server with a normal Web
Browser, and you have access to your personal desktop, with your applications documents, etc. just
like you left it. PDxtop lets you upload you files and work with then no matter where you are. The
features that are provided in PDxtop are as follows:
1. File Storage
Users will be able to store and maintain their Files and Folders.
2. Application Development Environment
There are two types of applications that will be provided for the ease of user.
2.1.GUI Applications
These applications will have their own GUI that will be similar to the applications we
use in Desktop Operating Systems.
2.2.Service Applications
These Applications will be like Web Services. Users will use this type of applications
with the help of URL.
3. File Sharing Service
This service will allow user to share their files with anyone, even with the person who is not
using PDxtop.
4. Application Sharing Service
This is a domain based sharing service that will allow users to share their applications (both
GUI and Service Applications) with anyone, outside PDxtop Environment.
5. Picture Streaming Service
This service will help user to make slides of their pictures and later on they can use it
anywhere on the web (inside or outside PDxtop Environment).
6. Database Service
Database Service will be provided for the users so that they can create database supported
applications for PDxtop.
