Abstract:
RopeUp is an Android‐based dedicated digital, social platform that brings people closer to their
goals. It is basically a digitization of the concept of Roping Up as explained in Habit#2 “Begin
with the End in Mind” of Seven Habits of Highly Effective People/Teens by Stephen R. Covey
and Sean Covey.
RopeUp lets people work in groups to achieve their individual goals in a collective manner. It
employs a carefully designed logging‐system that creates a healthy ecosystem of mutual check
and balance that keeps everyone ploughing ahead towards their goals.
Instead of letting users fend for themselves by relying solely on something as volatile as
motivation, RopeUp allows them to actually build the habits required to realize their goals;
taking them ever closer to their milestones at the same time in bite‐sized chunks that they can
swallow. Additionally, the friendly accountability offered by fellow group members helps
amplify the effect. As a result of all this, motivation comes on its own, giving the users an added
boost. Thus by making effective use of peer‐pressure and tiny habits, RopeUp helps people get
things done.
RopeUp comprises of an Android‐based client‐side application and a web service deployed on
Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform.
