Android is the most widely used open source operating system. Because of its open nature,
Android development has remained active through the past decade and it’s going ahead every
single minute. The open nature of Android has brought many opportunities for the developers
and programmers. Users have witnessed a revolution in the smartphone world in the past few
years. Today Android has become an everyday need. To provide the users with the tools,
utilities, entertainment and everything that they would need, Android has its own application
store, formerly known as Market and now known as Google Play Store. The Play Store hosts
over 1 million applications, which has already surpassed Apple’s iOS app store. Android Play
Store provides the users with the latest version of applications, provides updates as well.
Google Play Store is the only primary source that can install applications in the Android
device, other sources of applications either host APK files or refer to the Play Store.
Our purposed project takes into account the situations when Google Play Store isn’t working
for a user or the Google Play Store doesn’t have the user’s desired applications in it, or it’s
simply not showing up a certain application because of region differences. Keeping these
situations in view, the Android application package file repository will act as an alternative of
the Google Play Store. The website will serve the users in case an application is not appearing
in a specific region or in case the Play Store itself is down, users will be able to access our
website and download the package file of their favorite application for installation at any time
anywhere. The repository will be composed of several modules, which will serve the users just
like Google Play Store does |
