DiabetiX : A Diabetes Health Care System (P-0616) (MFN 5603)

Abstract

This thesis is about the final year project that we were pursuing and have now successfully completed. The project is a diabetes health care system known as DiabetiX. The thesis is aimed at explaining the functions and purpose of this project. DiabetiX is aimed at providing a medical facility to patients and doctors alike with regard to a pertaining disease known as diabetes, in which the body makes insufficient use of the insulin. DiabetiX provides functions such as predict the probability of the person being diagnosed with diabetes in the future using Bayesian Network, to classify a person as diabetic or non-diabetic based on different parameters such as random and fasting sugar using the Decision Tree ID3 algorithm provide recommendations to a patient based on the result of their tests and to provide a full-fledged report of their condition along with recommendations. Apart from this the system includes providing a dashboard for the user i.e. both patients and the doctors. For the patients, the dashboard includes data charts, report viewing, alerts management and test data submission. For the doctor, they can check on the progress of their patients by checking the patient’s stats, performing test on new patient data and send the patients timely notifications and alerts reminding them of their appointments or to follow up on some recommendation etc. Other features include informative maps which will help the doctor in analyzing which parts of the country have a majority of patients diagnosed with diabetes and thus they can ensure that higher attention be paid in those areas and for patients’ informative maps which will help them locate medical as well as fitness facilities near them.
