dc.description.abstract | The goal of this project is to design an Autonomous Basketball Robot which is self guided. It senses obstacles and goal post and tries to complete the task of potting balls into the basket in stipulated time without hitting the obstacles. The project consists mainly of two parts: the navigation of the robot and the completion of the task i.e. potting of the balls. All this robot functionality is controlled by a microcontroller. The navigation of the robot is so designed that it moves in a pre-designed arena and completes the task when it reaches to the desired location and pots the ball in the basket. The major design issues that are involved are its mechanical structure, sensors; motors circuitry and the interfacing of all these structures with the microcontroller. The Autonomous Basketball Robot is capable of following a line (track) of approximately 3 cm width which is white in color and it can also sense the obstacles and can complete the task and then return to its starting point. This project report is all about the design and construction of an Autonomous Basketball Robot. The robot consist of sensors, gear motors, a microcontroller and some general purpose ICs. Sensors are being used for locating/sensing the obstacles and following the track (line). Gear motors are used for precise movement. | en_US |
