dc.description.abstract | Meyal field is located near Pindi Gheb (District Attock), 110 km southwest of Islamabad, which is bounded by latitudes 33°11'-33°22' N and longitudes 71°59'- 72° 18' E and is a part of Meyal blocks which lies in the central part of Potwar plateau, Upper Indus basin. Two reflectors were marked i.e.Chorgali Formation and Sakesar Formation to investigate the geological structure in the area. Major faults were identified, which extended throughout these formations. For getting average velocity, average velocity graphs were generated from common depth points (CDP's). Velocity and TWT contour maps were generated from these above mentioned Reflectors. From these contour maps, time and depth contour were generated which delineated the subsurface structure and the tectonic activities which took place in the area throughout the geologic past. These contour maps show pop-up structure, which may act as trap for hydrocarbons and also there low velocities in the structure show the presence of hydrocarbons. Petrophysical analyses was carried out on Meyal-Ol and 10 for the identification of reservoir area and to evaluate the values for volume of shale, porosity, saturation of water and saturation of hydrocarbon present. On the basis of this analysis probable hydrocarbon zone were found in Chorgali and Sakesar formations of Eocene age. | en_US |
