Abstract:
This dissertation arms to delineate subsurface geology and identify hydrocarbon potential of well Amirpur-Ol of Chakwal area, Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan usin~ seismic and well log data. Tectonically the area lies in a compressional regime, hence prominent pop-up structures and down thrown anticlinal structures are prominent features of the area, bounded by thrust and reverse faults. Reflectors marked on the seismic sections include Chorgali Formation, Sakesar Limestone, Tobra and Khewra formations. By conducting petrophysical analysis, two hydrocarbon bearing zones have been identified in Sakesar Limestone and Khewra Formation each. Average hydrocarbon saturation of the zones is 23.7% and 35.98% respectively. Status of the well is exploratory.
