Abstract:
Solar energy is the most renewable form of energy available to us. Nowaday's utilization of solar energy is turning out to be more mainstream in world. Solar panels work properly when maximum sunlight falls on the panel so that the photons from the sunlight knocks the electron into higher energy state. So, to achieve maximum output from the sun the solar panel have to continuously track the sun. This project evolves a method that can give solution to this problem. The project includes the design and conclusion of a solar tracking system. Previous trackers in the market use LDR sensors or used some other sensors or use some other sensors to track the Sull. these techniques are not efficient due to multiple problems. The sensors are damage after few periods of time due to heat and the dust. So, we have to develop a system to replace them because the sensor technique is quite expensive. Our proposed system works based on astronomical equations. With the help of calculation of azimuth and altitude angles we find the position of the sun and track the sun throughout the day. We are using GPS module to get the coordinates of the exact position where tracker have to be placed. These coordinates are used in the calculation of the azimuth and the altitude angles. The controller we are using is atmega328 to control all the functions in the project for the movement of panels we are using 2 stepper motors and they move the panels as instruction given by the controller. This project is generic, and it can be used anywhere in the world. So, the efficiency of our proposed project is more than the stand-alone PV panel and also it is less costly as compare to other solar trackers available. This project is design for commercial and is sponsored by a solar producing industry.
