| dc.description.abstract | In the present world, brushless direct current motors are gaining widespread attention, mostly in industries, due to a number of factors such as their smaller size, high speed and greater efficiency. These factors give BLDC motors slight advantages over the conventional DC motors. The absence of brushes in a BLDC motor implies that it is electronically commutated while on the other hand, DC motors retain the characteristics of being self-commutated due to the presence of brushes. However, one of the many problems that BLDC motor possesses is that of speed control and hence this project offers a simple way of solving that problem. The project makes use of a DC to three phase AC inverter designed to act as a driver IC to operate the brushless DC motor. An Arduino module incorporated generates a six-step commutation pattern required for the inverter. The six switching devices being utilized in the inverter are power-driven via the six pulse width modulation channels of Arduino. The BLDC motor is a sensor-less motor with sensor-less controllers that help determine the position of the rotor. Once successfully synchronized with the inverter, the motor turns on. Moving on to the main issue, the project relies on two types of speed control methods; manual and through Solar supply. | en_US |
