Abstract:
Wide range of project management tools and techniques are offered by project management
theory. Some research has been done to investigate the use of project management tools and
techniques on project success however; situational factors have not been addressed in the
literature of project management.Limited research has been done to empirically confirm the
impact of the use of project management tools and techniques on project success with respect
to the situational factors. . This research was conducted to examine the impact of project
management tools and techniques on project success in context of telecommunication
industry and to analyze the moderating effect of situational factors (Project type, project size,
project duration) on project management tools and techniques and project success. The study
was based on a survey and statistical analyses in which the relationship between thirteen
project management tools and techniques and four dimensions of project success with respect
to project type, project size and project size was analyzed. Evidence emerged that use of
project management tools and techniques is contingent upon situational factors and
situational factors as moderators can weaken the relationship between project management
tools and techniques and project success. To ensure the effective use of project management
tools and techniques, project managers should understand the main components of project
and select the right tools for specific characteristics of any project.
