Augmented View of Bahria University

Abstract

Augmented reality is the integration of digital information with the user's environment in real time, augmented reality uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it. Augmented Reality technology used to overlay digital information on an image of something being viewed through a device (such as a smartphone camera). Augmented Reality related to a more concept called mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified by a computer. On Other Hand, Virtual Reality (VR) replaces the real world with a simulated one. Virtual an artificial environment which is experienced through sensory stimuli (such as sights and sounds) provided by a computer and in which one's actions partially determine what happens in the environment. Augmented Reality relies in real-time world like cricket match or sports on TV or news during headlines. Recently, in Bahria University Islamabad Campus, high numbers of students visit the campus for admission. They have the curiosity to know about the university differences and history about 1,2,3 years before. The main target of this project is to show them the view of Bahria University's blocks that how it looks before 1,2,3 years before. The main focus of this project is based on Bahria University, which specially targets the blocks of the Bahria University and show the view of the blocks look like 1,2,3 years before. Augmented Reality (AR) based application would be able to provide the complete guidance and appropriate interpretation of the blocks to the user. Augmented Reality is used for whole Bahria University, and their blocks. We use Vuforia SDK and unity in the development of this project. Result shows that the Vuforia gives better performance comparing with the other development tools in tenus of the efficiency and accuracy.
