Abstract:
The present study aimed at determining whether a significant relationship exists between
religiosity and psychological wellbeing It was hypothesized that ,thcre would| be
a significant relationship between religiosity and psychological well-being there would be
a significant difference between the level of religiosity and psychological wellbeing among religious and non religious institutes. For this purpose a sample of 160 female participants between the ages of 20 - 30 years was taken from religious and non-religious institutes. Data collection was done using a consent form, a demographic information form, a religious orientation scale revised (Gorsuch & Macpherson, 1989) and Ryffs psychological wellbeing scale, 1989. Results obtained were statistically evaluated by using statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 20). The data revealed a positive correlation (r = 0.833) between the two variables, t-test revealed that p<0,05 indicating significant difference between the overall level of religiosity and psychological wellbeing among students of religious and non-religious institutes, thus verifying the hypotheses. The observed positive correlation between the two variables depicts that indeed those individuals who score high on the scale of religiosity are more likely to score high on the scale of psychological wellbeing as well. This means that the two factors co-vary and influence each other
