Role of contingency planning in military logistics

Abstract

This study is about the “role of contingency planning in military logistics”. Logistics is one of the most important aspect of any military and in the present era of globalization the operational environment has changed all-over the world. The present environment for the military has become more dynamic therefore it requires more robust and efficient logistics network capable of dealing with the asymmetric threats. In this research, it has discussed that using the different characteristics of supply chain management can have a positive impact on the logistics performance. Moreover, it has been described that what organizations are supposed to do in emergencies and how military logistics support should be carried out in disaster management. Various strategies that military adopts while operating in proactive operational environment have been discussed. Finally, it has been described that how organizations should design their contingency plan to respond to unforeseen events
