Effect of Multi Colored Lights on Mood.

Abstract

Present research aimed to investigate the effect of multicolored lights on mood. It was hypothesized that there would be a significant increase in positive mood upon experiencing Multicolored lights and also that there would be a significant decrease in negative mood upon experiencing multicolored lights. It as well was hypothesized that there would be a significant difference in the moods experienced between the different levels of interventions and that there would be a significant difference in the moods experienced between the experimental and control groups. Initially data was collected from 60 participants among age 18-25 with equal gender division, from student population of Bahria University, Karachi. Through purposive sampling data was later screened for color blindness; an exclusion criterion. Screening was based on results of Isihara test. The experiment was a pretest posttest between group design and PANAS- X was used to measure Positive and Negative Moods in pretest and posttest. Results were analyzed through SPSS 21; One Way Mixed MANOVA was conducted on data of 48 participants including 23 males and 25 females. Findings from data of current study did not support the proposed hypotheses. Some constrains were highlighted in evidence of other researches’, that need to be controlled in future replications.
