dc.description.abstract The goal of the study is to explore the contribution of parenting style in the increasing expression of apathy in young adults in the society. It was hypothesized that there will be a significant relationship in the perceived parenting styles and apathy. To test this hypothesis, a sample of 63 students was taken with an age range of 18 to 30 years, belonging to middle and upper-middle socio-economic status. Apathy Evaluation Scale and Parental Authority Questionnaire were used as tools to measure the variables. After results computation, the findings show that there is no significant relationship in level of apathy in individual who received different parenting styles from mother, whereas a significant relationship was found in level of apathy with respect of different parenting styles from father among same individuals. Results were considered to be influenced by the external factors like cultural considerations like collectivistic culture and patriarchal system in Pakistan. Study has some limitations also for which it is suggested for further studies in same area that extraneous factors like demographic factors may be studied with relationship to both variables, it may help to find more accurate results in analyzing the contributing factors of apathy in individuals. en_US
