Sexual Harassment Experiences of Working Women at Managerial and Menial Positions.

Abstract

The present study aimed to explore the significant difference in sexual harassment experiences of working women at managerial and menial positions. It was hypothesized that there will be a difference in the sexual harassment experiences of working women at managerial and menial positions. It was also hypothesized that there will be a significant difference in the sexual harassment experiences of working women among age ranges of 24 - 35 and 36 - 45. For this puipose, a convenience sampling of 200 female participants, 100 managerial working women and 100 menial working women between the ages of 24 - 45 years from different private and government organizations of Karachi were taken. Data collection was done using the self-administered sexual harassment experience questionnaire (Kamal & Tariq, 1998). The statistical findings, using the t- test analysis showed no significant difference in sexual harassment experiences between the two managerial and menial groups of working women, however a significant difference in the sexual harassment experiences were found between the two age groups of 24-35 and 36-45. Therefore, the results revealed that the first hypothesis of the study was disproved whereas the second hypothesis was verified. The limitations and the implications of the study has been discussed.
