dc.description.abstract The aim of the present research is to investigate the impact of family systems on life satisfaction and personal growth initiative in young adults. It was hypothesized that there will be a significant difference in the life satisfaction of individuals living in joint family system and nuclear family system. Second hypothesis states that there will be a significant difference in personal growth initiative of individuals living in joint family system and nuclear family system. To conduct the study a sample of 100 university students (53 males and 47 females) were selected through convenience sampling from different universities located in Karachi. In order to test empirically Personal Growth Initiative Scale II (Christine, et al., 2012) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (Edward, 1985) were administered on the selected sample. The participants belong to age bracket of 18-25. The results indicated that on personal growth initiative in nuclear and joint family, there is a non-significant difference (p>0.05, t=1.616). While on life satisfaction in nuclear and joint family system, a significant difference is seen (p<0.05, t=2.232). On the outlook of the present study, it is suggested that the further research shall be conducted on a larger sample drawn from the target population. Further a more diversified sample can be selected, in order to increase its generalizability. en_US
