dc.description.abstract | The aim of the present research was to determine whether there exists a significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Life Satisfaction among adolescents. It was hypothesized that there would be a significant correlation between Emotional Intelligence and Life Satisfaction among adolescence. The sample size consisted of 120 participants comprising of 60 males and 60 females. The participants were selected from Defense Authority public school (DAPS) O&A levels Sea View and Defense Authority Model High School Phase 7, Karachi. Non probability convenient sampling was used respectively. The age of the participants ranged from 14 years to 18 years respectively. The Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory: Youth Version (Short Form) developed by Bar-On and Parker (2000) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWL) (Diener, Emmons, Larsen & Griffin, 1985) were used in order to measure Emotional Intelligence and Life Satisfaction, respectively. The results did not support the hypothesis since the Pearson Coefficient of Correlation (r) was 0.048 which suggests no significant correlation between the two variables. On the outlook of the present study, it is recommended that for future exploration on similar researches the sample should not be obtained rom English medium schools only, since it limits the generalizability and more researches should be done using these two variables in other cities of the country too so that the dynamics of adolescence age can be examined in depth. | en_US |
