This study aimed at exploring the relationship between parenting styles and self. Compassion in young adults. The sample was chosen using convenience sampling from different ) diversities of Karachi. A total sample of 116 participants was collected which consisted of 66 females and 50 males between the age of 18-30 years. It was hypothesized that there would be significant relationship between parenting styles and self compassion. Consent form, demographic form. Parental Authority Questionnaire (Alkharusi, Aldhafri, Kazan, Alzubiadi, & kl-Bahrani, 2011) and Self Compassion Scale (Raes, Pommier, Neff, & Van Gucht, 2011) v/ere administered. Results were analyzed using Pearson Correlation. Results showed that authoritative style of parenting and self compassion (/-.052, /K0.581), authoritarian parenting Style and self compassion (/- -.049,;?<603) and permissive parenting style and self compassion ir= -.157, p<093) had no significant relationship. Results suggested that other factors might / lave an effect on the levels of self compassion. |
