Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to study young consumer’sclothing disposal behavior. Most of the researches are conducted regarding consumers buying behavior therefore little research is conducted on clothing disposal behavior.The aim of this paper is to study past two methods of clothing disposal behavior involves donating to charities and giving away to family and friends. The objectives are to analyze the life cycle of the clothing product in the disposal phase to investigate the behaviors, motivations and social responsibility concerns of the clothing disposal behavior of young consumers by using data from both males and females located in Pakistan. The quantitative study design was used in order to effectively collect and analyze data from convenience sampling The survey questionnaire included questions related to demographic information, attitude of young consumers clothing disposal behaviors, donation to charities, give away to friends and family, social motivation and social responsibility. Most of the participants were belonged to Generation Y. This Study thus develops the understanding of young consumer clothing disposal behavior The sample size was 440 ranging the age of 18-34 for convenience data was collected online and the instrument used for collecting data for this particular study comprises of four constructs that are donation to charity, giveaway to friends and family, social motivation and social responsibility. After determining the normality a frequent multiple step procedure was used which included Descriptive analysis, Exploratory Factor Analysis, Reliability analysis, Pearson Correlation Matrix and Regression analysis. The results were significant between donation to charity, giveaway to friends and family, social responsibility, social motivation and young consumer disposal behavior and further validating the hypotheses. The hypotheses were reliable. Implications and discussions for marketers were drawn from the results.
