Purpose: This study serves the purpose of finding the impact of emotional intelligence on the
academic performance of students studying business studies in Karachi. Purpose is achieved by
studying emotional intelligence with the help of 4 components, namely: Emotionality, sociability,
self-control and well-being.
Research Methodology: The present study is quantitative research and followed the deductive
approach. The type of study is explanatory and it is primary in nature. The target population of this
study are the students of Karachi, studying business studies. Non-probability convenience
sampling is used get the data for this research study. Sample size of 300 was selected to get the
response, out of 300 only 270 respondents respond through structured questionnaire. Survey
strategy was adopted for data collection purpose. Instrument used to get the survey done was
adopted form previous researches. Data was gathered through sending the link of google forms on
WhatsApp Facebook and Email contacts. In this study components of emotional intelligence i.e.
well-being, self-control, emotionality and sociability have studied as an independent variable or
predictor variables while academic performance has used as a dependent variable. Multiple linear
regression technique has used to check out the impact of independent variables on dependent
variable.
Findings of the research: The outcome of the study has revealed that there is a significant impact
of well-being, self-control, emotionality and sociability on academic performance of Karachi
business students.
Practical implications: The study has given the evident result in the favor of emotional
intelligence that it does have an impact on academic performance of business student and it can be
learn and practice trough trainings, motivational sessions and lectures. |
