dc.description.abstract Purpose of the Research Despite the increasing number of women in workforce, the barriers for women’s career progression still exists. This study has been conducted to identify and analyze the factors acting as barriers towards women’s career advancement. This study assess women’s career advancement as a dependent variable, and education level, family consideration, gender discrimination, work-life imbalance and glass ceiling effect as independent variable Research Method/ Sampling This research is quantitative in nature and the data was collected through primary sources. This study targets women working in Karachi, for the purpose of data collection we used convenience sampling, and the data was collected from 308 respondents, who were all working women in Karachi and for the purpose of analyzing the data of findings of this research the statistical tool SPSS have been applied. Findings of the Research In this study all hypothesis were statistically analyzed and examined. The independent variables education level, family consideration, and glass ceiling effect are significant to and positively related with dependent variable career advancement for women, while gender discrimnation, and work-life imbalance were insignificant to and negatively related with career advancement for women, which is statistically proved through Multiple Linear Regression Practical Implications of the Research It is vital for government and employers to have an understanding of the barriers to women career advancement for facilitating a favorable environment to invite and retain women in workforce. On the basis of the results of this research, such an environment can be created at workplace by the government and employers which will help women in overcoming the barriers to their career advancement en_US
