Abstract:
Purpose
The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of performance appraisal (fairness in
appraisal, method of appraisal and appraisal justification) on employee development. The
previous researches have clearly suggested that, there has been a direct and significant
relationship between performance appraisal and the mentioned factors of appraisal. The
researchers also suggest that performance appraisal is oen of the major reasons why an employee
leave the firm
Methodology
The methodology followed for this research is quantitative and deductive approach as the
research involves certain tests to check the impact between the two variables. Regression test is
used to determine the significance of the research model along with the variation caused in
Dependent variable due to independent. On the other hand to check the correlation the researcher
has used Pearson moment correlation method also.
Findings
The findings from the test suggest that there were three hypothesis for the research (fairness in
appraisal, method of appraisal and appraisal justification have significant related to employee
development. The findings from the test shows that, fairness sin appraisal and method of
appraisal are significantly related to employee development whereas, justification proves to be
insignificant. The test also shows that, fairness has the highest relationship with employee
development.
Implications
The study is considered quite useful for the management of banks in particular and for other
organizations working in financial industry. Department managers may also benefit from the
finding of this study and can focus on the importance of employee development and performance
appraisal with an aim to have a better industry outlook.
