Abstract:
The current study aims to investigate the impact of interior designing & infrastructure of
workplace on employees’ performance in a Karachi based firm. The research involves the
importance of furniture, lighting, decoration, temperature, color and spatial arrangement as
essential attributes of interior designing and infrastructure for improving employee performance.
The research involves qualitative research methodology on the basis of which data is collected
from approximately 203 respondents of the oil and gas marketing based company in Karachi.
The simple and multiple linear regression analysis is performed to gather all the required data
and analyzed by means of SPSS analysis. The regression analysis revealed that lighting and
spatial arrangements are considerably important when it comes to employee performance and
retention while furniture, color, temperature and decoration are less significant.
Since the available literature is from developed countries, it can be concluded that in developing
countries the concepts of employee’s performance are widely linked with the idea of financial
rewards and money, therefore research can be further explored for different internal attributes as
well in reference to meeting the individual preferences and choices of the employees
