dc.description.abstract The research on “Determining Major Factors Contributing to Depressive Behavior among Youth (Business Students) due to Excessive Use of Facebook.” is conducted with a major aim and purpose to study the impact of Facebook usage (intensity) on the emotional wellbeing of the young adults and study how it adversely affects them psychologically (which subsequently has a strong impact on their studies, work life balance and potential). For the purpose of research to study the impact of excessive Facebook usage on the young adults The data collected was from primary sources. The secondary sources were already published research papers from digital libraries and primary data was collected using a questionnaire that was floated online to gather responses and further analyze them. The research is descriptive in nature and a regression study was conducted to examine the relation of selected variables with depressive behavior. The variables included Time spent on Facebook (daily), Facebook Addiction, Number of Friends on Facebook and Lack of Privacy on Facebook. Stratified sampling technique was used to collect data from sample population and 350 responses were recorded. Through analysis of the research, it was found that there was a positive linear relationship between excessive usage of Facebook and depressive behavior among youth. Variables like time spent daily and lack of privacy on Facebook also showed a positive relationship with depressive behavior which confirmed the hypothesis. The study provides guidance to monitor and control unnecessary Facebook usage in order to reduce the likelihood of being prone to various symptoms of depression in future. en_US
