Abstract:
Purpose
The purpose of the research is focus on determining the factors which influences career choice of
female students. This research aims to find out the personal and professional factors which
significantly impact the career choices of female students.
Methodology/ Sample
The study was conducted based on quantitative data which was collected through questionnaire
by taking responses from 201 final year female students of Bahria University Karachi Campus.
The study focuses on four independent variables which include parent influences, post marriage
influences, organization working environment and teacher influences and their impact on the
dependent variable career choice of female students. With the help of SPSS tool data was
analyzed through regression test and Pearson correlation.
Findings
The result obtained through SPSS with regression and correlation test shows that independent
variables have a significant impact on dependent variable. The correlation test shows that
positive correlation exists between independent variables parental influence, post marriage
influence, organizational working environment and teachers influence with dependent variable
career choice.
Practical Implications
Factors identified during this research have implications ranging from counseling and mentoring
students in their choice of career to enabling them through curriculum to find their own direction
and goal unobstructed by undue influences. This research may be expanded further to other HEIs
which will help in developing mature students who make their own decisions based on their own
skills and values.
