Abstract:
Purpose:
The purpose of this research was to find out the impact of performance appraisal on the job
satisfaction of teachers in Cambridge Schools in Karachi. Performance Appraisal is an
important tool to create employee commitment and motivation. Investigations and findings
were made to study the impact of various components of performance appraisal on the
employee satisfaction and performance.
Methodology/sample:
The research consisted of quantitative data collected through questionnaire. The data was
collected for a sample of 184 both male and female teachers of 5 Cambridge schools of
Karachi. To analyze the data, regression and Correlation tests were applied.
Findings:
The investigations and study has found that periodic review does not affect the appraisal
system in Cambridge schools. However, participative goal setting allows the management and
teachers to share their expectations and suggestions with each other. Feedback and final
evaluation helps the employees and the organization to improve their performance.
Practical Implication:
The findings of this research will help the school management about the impact of PAS on the
performance of the employees and its limitations. Participative goal setting can influence the
job commitment and motivation level of employees. Although the goals are set in the
beginning of the year but periodic view and timely feedback can help improve the
productivity of employees. Other institutes can also benefit from the research.
