Abstract:
Nowadays Petroleum organizations are endeavoring to expand their businesses and making
efforts to generate wealth for the organization & for their stakeholders too. We have one world
to live where we have limited assets and one clean condition where we can inhale, so there is a
need of sustainability development. Global Companies are all the more concentrating on
sustainability factor as it might give benefit later to the organization.
Petroleum industry produces the most serious consequences for Environment. It directly impact
on the healths of million and billions of individuals around the world. Petroleum industry
comprises in Upstream ( Extraction of Crude Oil) & Down stream (Oil refineries & OMCs). Their
operational activities impacting on environment. Today, In Pakistan there are numerous oil
marketing companies and Oil refineries working in Pakistan. This research is focused to know
which sustainability activities are going on Pakistan’s Petroleum industry , also What is the level
of sustainability attain so for & what are the banders Pakistan is facing to implement sustainability.
The scope of this research is restricted to 8 companies. As industry is consists of OMC's and
refineries, we analysis through surveys from 3 refineries and 5 OMCs. The aim of this research is to
gather the data in terms of environmental & social variables , barriers , benefits in implementation
of sustainability. In order to know exactly , what activities are being performed by this industry for
attaining the sustainability.
