dc.description.abstract Augmented Reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computergenerated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. It is related to a more general concept called mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality. By contrast, virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated one. Augmentation is conventionally in real time, and in semantic context with environmental elements, such as sports scores on TV during a match or headlines during news. Recently, in cultural art galleries, different culture is depicted old form of paintings. However, different visitors visiting the gallery may experience difficulty in interpreting the cultural aspects portrayed in paintings. The main target of this project is to provide a unique experience to the visitors to interpret a particular piece of art. The main focus of the project is based on galleries, which specifically target paintings based on culture heritage. AR-based application would be able to provide a unique appropriate interpretation of cultural heritage to the user, who has no guidance/support to interpret. Evaluated our application by using these algorithms HAAR, HOG, SIFT and SURF. Result shows that SURF gives better performance comparing with other algorithms in terms of the efficiency and accuracy. en_US
