Abstract:
Purpose of the Study:
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of various Human Resource Management
(HRM) practices on job satisfaction at a leading national courier services provider TCS Pvt.
Ltd. In this regard, HRM practices and factors chosen for this study included work
environment, compensation & benefits, training & development, performance appraisals (PA)
and retirements planning.
Research Methodology:
The type of this research is descriptive. Adopting a deductive approach, hypotheses were first
developed after studying relevant literature, followed by preparation of a research instrument
i.e. a well-established questionnaire. Primary quantitative data were collected from a sample
size of 120 employees belonging to target population. The collected data were analyzed
through statistical tools such as Pearson’s Correlation and Regression analysis, with help of
Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), version 22.
Findings of Study:
The findings of the study, indicate that there is a positive relationship between all five HRM
practices and job satisfaction. Out of these factors, Compensation & Benefits and Work
Environment have strong and significant relationship with job satisfaction. Whereas, there is a
positive relationship between training & development and job satisfaction however its impact
is moderate. Retirement benefits have a weak to moderate impact on employee job satisfaction
while performance appraisal is observed to have lowest impact amongst the 5 HRM practices.
Practical Implications of the Research:
The findings of this study will help management of TCS to understand impact of different
factors on job satisfaction. Besides, managers of other courier companies can also benefit from
