dc.description.abstract This research work aims to understand the structural framework and reservoir potential of Dhumal area. The study is divided into two parts. In the first section, interpretation of available seismic lines was carried out by marking horizons, generating time, depth and velocity maps. The interpretation confirms a pop up geometry between fore and backthrust bounded by a sole and roof thrust forming a passive roof duplex. In the second part petrophysical analysis was carried out to calculate average porosity, effective porosity, saturation of hydrocarbons and water etc. Two zones were marked i.e zone 1 with the thickness of 20ft and has an average hydrocarbon potential of 54.83% zone 2 with the thickness of 5~ft has 52.12% hydrocarbon saturation. Sakessar limestone of Eocene age has been identified as the possible reservoir rock in Dhumal-05 well. en_US
