| dc.description.abstract | The major aim of this thesis is to study the Structure and Hydrocarbon potential of Khaur Area, with the help of Seismic Data. Khaur area lies. The Potwar sub-basin is situated at the northern margin of the Pakistan in the western foothills of Himalaya. It comprises of the Potwar plateau, the Jhelum plain and the Salt Range. Khaur structure is thought to be enriched by potential hydrocarbon on the basis of structural and petroleum system studies. Five Seismic lines data have been awarded for Seismic interpretation by LMKR after approval by DGPC. Average Velocities made the way easy to mark reservoir on the TD chart. Time depth and velocity contour maps of Badrar and Sakessar Formation clearly indicate the Pop up anticline structures in this area. Amount of shortening experienced by an area due to the tectonic forces is estimated by crustal “shortening analysis. The balanced cross section was made after using the Curving bed method, where bed line length and area are preserved. All motion was assumed to be within the plane of the cross section with no strike-slip or oblique motion. | en_US |
