| dc.description.abstract | The main purpose of this study is to estimate hydrocarbon potential of Kandra area, Central Indus Basin based on its structural geology and petrophysical analysis. Geographically, the study area lies in Sukkur district, Sind province. It is an extensional regime. Data used to achieve the objectives consisted of five seismic lines and well logs, obtained from LMKR by the permission of DGPC. Based on acoustic impedance contrast, three reflectors have been marked on the seismic sections namely Sui Main Limestone, Lower Goru Formation and Chiltan Limestone respectively. Four faults have been marked on the seismic sections having dip direction NE to NW. Horst and graben geometry is formed in the area which is a promising structure for hydrocarbon accumulation. Based on subsurface geology, structural traps are present. Petrophysical analysis suggests that Sui Main Limestone of Eocene Age is the possible reservoir in Kandra-02 well with average hydrocarbon saturation of 77%. Status of the well is suspended, possibly due to the acidizing job carried out after the drilling of the well. | en_US |
