Abstract:
In the present study, the 2D seismic interpretation and hydrocarbon potential assessment of Khushalgarh area in Upper Indus Basin was carried out. The study area is situated in the North Potwar deformed zone (NPDZ) as a part of active fold and thrust belt formed by the Indo-Eurasian plate collision. To delineate the subsurface structures, seismic interpretation was carried out on five seismic lines 86-KH-16, 86-KH-17, 86-KH-18, 86-KH-95 and 86-KH-96. Basically, two reflectors were marked on each seismic section identified as Kohat and Kuldana formations. In Jalwal-01 well, one zone of interest has been marked within the Kohat Formation. The average water and hydrocarbon saturation in the zone were 98.3 % and 1.67 %, respectively. According to the petrophysical analysis of the area the well was abandoned possibly due to the higher saturation of water.
