dc.description.abstract This thesis contains the study of 2D seismic reflection data interpretation of selected seismic lines of Chak Naurang area, Potwar sub-basin, Pakistan, for delineation of subsurface structures favorable for hydrocarbon accumulation. Chak Naurang area is located at a distance of about 90 km in the south-west of Islamabad. Seismic data interpretation has been done by marking reservoir horizons of Chorgali Formation and Sakesar Limestone with identification of faults by using Formation tops. Time and depth contour maps were generated which delineated the subsurface structures of the study area. Petrophysical analysis were performed on Amirpur well-01 in order to locate the potential hydrocarbon bearing zone. Gamma ray, resistivity, sonic and SP logs were used for the analysis. The parameters used for petrophysical interpretation are volume of shale, sonic porosity, effective sonic porosity, water saturation and hydrocarbon saturation. Average saturation of water in Chorgali Formation was estimated to be 67.7% and Average saturation of hydrocarbons were estimated to be 32.3%. The percentage of hydrocarbons is less than 50% which suggest that Chorgali Formation cannot be considered as potential reservoir rock for the accumulation of hydrocarbons. en_US
