| dc.description.abstract | Potwar Sub-basin is part of the Himalayan foreland and an important petroleum province in north Pakistan. Hydrocarbons are commonly produced from stacked Cambrian to Eocene clastic and carbonate reservoirs. Objectives of this research work were 2D seismic interpretation of the area delineating the subsurface structure, petrophysical analysis of Turkwal Deep-01 well for reservoir evaluation and estimation of crustal shortening and structural evolution to find the direction of forces. Interpretation of seismic sections defines subsurface structures to be identified as two main decollements at Infra- Cambrian and Permian sequences, back thrusts on these decollements formed salt core pop-up structures which provided hydrocarbon trap. Hydrocarbon potential of Chorgali Formation in Turkwal Deep-01 well was evaluated by executing petrophysical analysis using borehole logs. Estimation of crustal shortening and balancing of subsurface profile using simple shear technique resulted in reasonable restored model of the structures. | en_US |
