dc.description.abstract The principal objective of the present research is to find out the bearing capacity of the soil under Elan tower on plot no. A-4, F-9/G-9 Jinnah Avenue, blue area, Islamabad. Total 5 boreholes had been drilled at various locations with boreholes depth ranging from 70 to 100 feet. Borehole drilling is done by using percussion boring rig, and number of disturbed and undisturbed samples had been acquired. Field testing includes Standard Penetration test (SPT), field density test and moisture content tests which performed with accordance to ASTM standards. The test performed in the laboratory comprised on sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, unconfined compression strength (UCS) test, consolidation test, and chemical test on soil and ground water samples. Bearing capacity of soil was calculated through SPT and UCS test by using any of the Meyerhof’s, Terzaghi, and Hansen equations. en_US
