Abstract:
The current study was directed in order to study the association among obesity, body image and interpersonal relationship and the role of other demographics such as gender, education and SES were also studied. For this purpose correlational, cross-sectional study design was used. The sample comprised of 250 participants i.e. 125 married males and 125 married females. Body Mass Index was used to measure obesity, The Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire Appearance Scale (MBSRQ_34), by Cash (2002) was used for body image and The Relational Assessment Questionnaire by Snell. (1997) was used for interpersonal relationships for data collection. The findings of the study showed that there is non-significant association between main variables of the study, however Relational Esteem is significantly positively related with Body Image and Over- Weight Preoccupation. Furthermore it was also found that married females are more obese as compared to married males. However, level of education and socioeconomic status did not determine the obesity, body image and interpersonal relationship. Limitations and suggestion for future studies has also been discussed.
