dc.description.abstract The study is carried out on the seismic lines and well data of Tajjal area, located in the Central Indus basin of Pakistan where Lower Goru and Sembar formations are acting as major reservoir and source respectively. The area under study lies in the extensional regime. The study includes basic 2D seismic interpretation and petro physical analysis, which will further aid the rock physics modeling and mapping of depositional geometries. Previous literature has aided the sequence marking from the bottom of Sembar Formation on seismic lines which continued on well data till the top of Lower Goru Formation. Total five sequences are marked on the seismic lines. TST and HST cannot be seen very clearly on seismic lines, whilst the stacking patterns are visible on Sawan-01 well logs showing proper order of type 1 sequence possessing Lowstand system tract (LST), Transgressive stand system tract (TST) and Highstand system tract (HST). Similarly, in Sawan-02, four sequences can be seen possessing proper order which confirm the presence of uplift and pinch outs on the western side of the study area where stratigraphical traps can be ascertained. The results of seismic interpretation have confirmed that the area lies in extensional regime. The petrophysical analysis has confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in D interval of the Lower Goru Formation. While the rock physics analysis did not play an important role in confirmation of the hydrocarbon potential zone in C and D interval of Lower Goru formation. en_US
