Abstract:
The Sanghar block is situated in the Southern Indus Basin, Pakistan. It contains several developments and production (D & P) leases, which are producing gas from Cretaceous rocks. The present study aimed to evaluate the Petrophysical properties of the Lower Goru Formation using well log data. This study revealed that the reservoir quality sands are deposited in the eastern portion of the study area. Well correlation, petrophysical data logs (PDLs) and Isomap layers techniques were adopted to calculate the petrophysical properties of the reservoir level. The target reservoir Zone of Lower Goru Formation shows hydrocarbon presence in the Basal Sands and Massive Sands of Lower Goru Formation. Having average shale volume in ranging from 25-48%, average effective porosity is about 5-11%, average water saturation is 40% and average saturation of hydrocarbon is 60%. Zone correlation shows petrophysical variation and thickness variation. The overall thickness of the Basal Sands is increasing towards east whereas the Massive Sands is not drilled in Chak 5Dim South-01 well. Regionally Isomaps trend in this area shows that eastern side has good effective porosity (9-11%), less shale volume (25-35%) and saturation of water (40-50%).
