Abstract:
Due to limited research on both project management (PM) and benefits management (BM), the moderating effect of top management support (TMS) has not been studied in relation to project success (PS). Therefore, it is intended to study the effect of PM and BM on project success for firms operating in IT sector, taking into account the moderating effect of TMS. Research was conducted based on 181 valid responses out of 210, which were checked for normality, correlation and analyzed through linear regression to study direct relation of BM and PM with PS, and hierarchical regression to find moderating effect of TMS. Both independent variables were found to explain significance variance in project success. However relationship between BM and PS is not moderated by TMS. The findings give basis to support investments needed in implementation of BM and PM practices in organization. The results demonstrate correlation of PM and BM practices with PS; therefore organizations can increase their rate of project success through PM and achieve strategic through BM practices. Rate of Project Success increases significantly if top management supports the implementation of PM practices in organization
