Abstract:
This research has been undertaken to look at the repercussions of necessary motivation regarding employees production capabilities in KSEW. The Ship Repair, General Engineering and Shipbuilding Departments of Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Karachi were used as the base for this study.
This research has given an outline on which the motivational programs in Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works are based. The focal point of this research is on the programs which assist the workers to deal with their individual issues which may influence their production capabilities.
This research covers the basic essentials of workers motivational issues and the necessary actions to be taken for successful implementation of its findings. It also covers the cultural aspects of the Pakistani society which may affect the successful implementation.
This paper includes a study carried out on 715 workers from various Departments of Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Ltd. The study was used to dig out the employees tilt for motivational incentives. The literature review consists of pertinent papers and texts written by known writers and published texts books.
Appropriate questionnaire was designed and circulated to employees for their response. Survey technique, refined observation and detailed discussions formed the methodology employed.
715 employees of Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works taken from various categories of the organization were used as sample. However, a random assortment of 300 forms was the base of this study.
Based on the results of the data collected, interviews and its examination, the result confirmed that the employees were positively influenced towards higher production due to regular promotions, adequate job security, higher salaries and bonuses etc. The employees do not perform better under the uncertain conditions.
KSEW also needs to promote ideas floated by workers and their creativeness by granting flexibility in use of various policies and rules. High rigidity in application of rules may result into a setback for high growth.
KSEW needs to hunt talents for reward to serve as role model for other employees.
Based on the findings of the study, recommendations have been made to avoid deterioration on worker’s productivity.
