| dc.description.abstract | The International shipping industry carries 90% of the world trade and is life line of the global economy. Ships being core component of the industry are technically sophisticated and high value assets. Their safe operation depends upon the highly trained manpower. Since maritime is a global industry, standards of maritime education and training needs to be of very high standards to meet the demands of highly competitive international maritime job market. The purpose of this research work is to analyze the standard of maritime education and training in Pakistan, identify the problems and suggest measures for its improvement. This paper presents background information on International standards of maritime training and certification requirement. The report discusses the global market supply and demand scenario and what benefit we will get through improvement in standards of training. The demand for the Pakistani officers is dependent on the quality standards of the Pakistani maritime institutes and their acceptance by the world. | en_US |
