dc.description.abstract Science has emerged like anything in the past two centuries. Twentieth century has been an era of inventions and one of the biggest inventions of science was that of electricity which gradually became part of our lives and within no time our lives became dependent on electricity. It is also the fact that each invention of science needs some vehicle or resources in order to be achieved, utilized and get benefited. Thus electricity, an invention also needs a proper infrastructure for generation, distribution and management. Almost everything around us operates and functions with some sort of energy and electricity is the most common one. But this form of energy is not totally natural and has to be derived from other natural resources that are scarce and require massive infrastructure and capital to produce it. In order for to gain advantage of this invention of science in this era of modernization and achieve sustainable economic growth, we need to be the recipient of uninterrupted supply of electricity. Like all other countries in the world, Pakistan has got an infrastructure for the generation and distribution of electricity in a wide scope of its regions. Since its independence in 1947, the country has been striving and developing the systems for the proper generation and distribution of electricity at a wider landscape. Pakistan is the country that is well blessed with the natural resources. This includes the resources that can facilitate the generation of electricity including hydra power, coal, gas and fuel. The matter is to properly channelize these resources in order to be benefited by the energy resources present in the country. \ KESC (Karachi Electric Supply Company) is the prime electricity supplier to the city of Karachi and is under serious concern regarding its efficiency and performance of fidfilling the city demand. The issue is not new, however, there needs to be concrete justification of what the issues are being faced by the organization and what could be the remedies to get the way out of the problem. The fact that I have chosen KESC as the topic of my thesis is that I could recommend the improvement plan of the organization through identifying the real issues based on facts and research. en_US
