dc.description.abstract Ratana area is located in south west of Islamabad. The study area falls in compressional regime and is dominated by thrust faults. Salt layer over Precambrian basement has acted decollement surface, thus resulting in formation of faults bounded anticlinal features, favorable for accumulation of hydrocarbon. Interpretation of Seismic lines, time contour maps, depth contour maps of reservoirs are generated. Petrophysical evaluation of Chorgali, Datta and Lokhart Formations has been done by using Density, Sonic and Gamma ray logs. Hydrocarbon potential of study area is confirmed on the basis of available literature and well data. On the basis of these results, other wells can be explored in Ratana area to utilize its potential. en_US
