Abstract:
Purpose- the objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the recruitment
and selection practices being implement in organizations; to determine through detailed
research and study that which practices have proven to be more successful in recruiting
qualified candidates and how these practices can be improved in order to chose the best
candidates and then retain them.
Methodology/sample- The study involved use of questionnaires filled by 50
respondents. The respondent individuals were employees of Abbott Laboratories Pakistan
but they belonged to different age groups, social classes and areas of residence. To
analyze the data, spss software was used to determine the valid percentage of the data.
The analysis of the data was mainly done by computing the percentages obtained for
various questions and by presenting these by means of tables and bar graphs.
Findings- The analysis and comparative results clearly suggested that effective
recruitment and selection play a significant role in improving an organizations
performance, they affect the employees productivity and to some extent the turnover rate
of the organization. Also the recruitment process at Abbott Laboratories Pakistan was
found to be of satisfactory nature to some extent.
Practical Implications- The outcomes of the research will help the recruiters and HR
managers of different organizations and will assist them in improving their organizations
recruitment and selection process.
