Abstract:
Purpose- The research was conducted to measure the Role of Strategic Human Resource
Management (SHRM) on acquisitions and mergers in ‘Faysal Bank’.
Methodology/sample- The research study consists of use of quantitative; we collect data in
shape of statistical information, analyze it and then present its findings. In the research study
Strategic human resource management (SHRM) is taken as independent variable and
acquisition as dependent variable. The study involved use of questionnaires filled by 50
respondents of Faysal Bank belonging to middle and top management level. The respondents
were of different ages, have different work experience, and were on different designations and
of different departments. To analyze the data, Correlation tests and one sample test was
applied. Data was collected from Head Office and different branches of Faysal Bank located
in Karachi. The statistical software SPSS 20 was used for the analysis of data.
Findings- The research study suggests that Strategic human resource management SHRM) has
positive role on acquisitions and mergers. The challenges associated with acquisition and
mergers become easier if quality strategic human resource management practices are applied.
Practical Implications- The outcomes of the research study might help the banking sector as
well as other organizations when they go through acquisition and merger or when plan to go
for it, as this study shows the positive role of strategic human resource management (SHRM)
activities on acquisitions and mergers.
