| dc.description.abstract | Problem Statement: To analyze the past trend of mergers and acquisitions of banks of Pakistan over the past 15 years. Purpose The main aim of this research study is to analyze the past trend of Mergers and Acquisitions of Banks in Pakistan. To know when this trend started, when it was at its peak, when it was low and what the current trend is. Methodology/sample Majority of our research work heavily relies on secondary data as it is a descriptive study. We are studying past 15 years trend. Graphs, charts, tables and SPSS to analyse, present and interpret our data and finding. No sample required in this research as it is census research. Annual reports of banks are useful source of data in this research study. Findings According to the findings 2000 was the year when Mergers and Acquisitions started in Pakistan. Its gradually become a trend in especially the banking sector. Mergers offer economies of scale and help banks fulfil capital requirement that’s why they are gaining momentum in Pakistan.2008 and 2010 were the years when this trend was highest.
